There’s so much to adjust to and learn as a new mum, and that’s without trying to manage on probably the least and most disrupted sleep you’ve ever had. So, there’s often not much energy left for taking time out for yourself, or your relationship, and getting some support. It’s normal to feel hesitant and scared about sharing some of your more personal fears or experiences, and who do you ask all those questions that you think are silly but SO want to ask?
This workshop will give you a confidential place to talk and support as a mum in a warm and homely environment. It will be safe to speak about the unspeakable and ask questions, so you’ll inevitably hear others ask your questions and share similar experiences too. By bringing your baby(ies) with you, if they’re under a year, you won’t have to arrange childcare or feel you have to leave your baby to have time for yourself.
Is this workshop for you?
Do you find yourself wondering about what happened to your relationship? How come it has changed so much, or perhaps why it hasn’t changed and needs to? Becoming a family changes so much, yet with little space and time to understand what and how to handle it.
The initial session will start to explore the inevitable changes that happen when you become a mum; in your relationship with yourself, your partner and extended family. There will be the space to talk and learn a bit about what’s happening, and know you’re not alone. Here are the details:
Might you want more?
If you find this approach supportive and have more specific questions, or just want more, you can sign up for a series of 4 further group sessions, to be held monthly (dates to be agreed between the group). This block of sessions will cost £50, and will go ahead if 4 or more mums are interested. Here are some of the areas that might be on your mind.
• You might be feeling everything has changed, having strong emotional reactions and wondering who you are now that you’re a mother?
• Or the change in you and your partner’s routines and roles has thrown everything into confusion and there’s tension between you?
• Maybe you’re struggling with a shift in your relationship with your parents and/or in-laws since a grandchild(ren) came on the scene?
• Perhaps you’re worried about what’s happened to your sex life, or the lack of one?
The follow on sessions will cover the following topics:
• Identity – who am I now I’m a mother?
• Changing Roles – how do we handle the changing balance in our relationship?
• Extended Family – how do we manage our different needs?
• Sexuality – what happened to our sex life?
